Updates & Tournaments

The past few months have given us a lot to look forward to in terms of EGC events. Various artists, cosplayers, and musical performances have already been announced. There are still a few more guest announcements planned for the weeks ahead that you'll want to stay tuned for.  Our community is really coming together even as we spend so much of our time apart. This weekend is filled with two of our most popular tournaments to compete in, so we're looking forward to spending time with so many of you.
This Saturday, December 19th, we have some great family fun with the newest addition to the Super Smash Bros franchise: SSBUltimate. With more than 100 stages and over 80 characters to choose from, there is plenty of room for both fun and strategy. Participants in the tournaments may be selected to appear on EGC's Twitch channel where spectators can enjoy the action and root for their favorites to win.

Then on Sunday, December 20th, it's time to really unleash that Killer Instinct. While it did borrow some concepts from other popular games, namely Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat [two more tournaments offered at our convention], KI has its own charm. The unique features of a double energy meter and various improvements to the combo mechanics make for some interesting capabilities during a match. Additionally, an instinct gauge unlocks a special feature of the character such as Black Orchid's attack with a massive fire cat.
Stay tuned for more news, updates, and announcements as we continue on the road to EGC. The Electronic Gaming Convention is planned to be held the weekend of February 26th-28th 2021 at the San Antonio Event Center located at the intersection of Loop 410 and Marbach. With regard for everyone's safety, social distancing practices will be followed and masks are required as per our local ordinances.

Sephi utilized his experiences in many of his interactions to become what he’s described today as a “multi-media culture masher”, establishing the correlation between anime and electronic music. Sephi strives to make the electronic dance community relevant for fans by formulated his mixing style called AnimEDM, a style of unique sounds and sights primarily influenced from Progressive House, Trance, Eurodance, Hard Dance, and Hardcore music, often with Japanese influences.

Sephi’s AnimEDM style gained significant attention in the anime and rave scene as he performed for the masses at FAN:dom Con, San Japan, SukoshiCon, IKKiCon, and Realms Con as well as festivals such as Equinox, Unite As One, Tonyc Summer Jam and Texas Silent Disco.
