We are proud to announce Ray, a pillar in the San Antonio art community, as one of our guest artists. Born in Lubbock, Texas and raised on the south side of San Antonio, Ray has been creating art for as long as he can remember. As a child, he would sell sketches of Iron Maiden album covers to buy his favorite snacks. He continued to make art throughout the years, however it wasn’t until his wife gifted him with his first professional art set that he made his debut as an artist. His wife, Lanett, and his daughter, Madelaine Cheri Sharie, are his two biggest supporters.
Ray recalls his wife buying him his first real artist set with a laugh. “I didn’t know what to do with it,” Ray admits.

With the help of Momo Villarreal, his business partner, Ray has been helping to promote other local artists and embracing his Latino heritage. With this in mind, Ray and Momo have opened up the LVL Up Gallery at the Rolling Oaks Mall to provide a safe place for all artists to showcase their work. Check out their events and promotions on Facebook @lvlupartgallerysanantonio

Despite being a local micro business in these difficult economic times, he remains dedicated to ensuring the community prospers by continuing to showcase local artists’ work and utilizing art to brighten the lives of children with terminal illnesses. Of all his commitments, staying active in the many organizations that help children cope with these terminal illnesses remains his most fulfilling endeavor. Ray’s goal is to use his artistic talent to illuminate a dark world : "Every piece of art I make, I put a little bit of my soul into."

We're happy to have him join us for our weekend of fun and gaming at EGC in San Antonio, TX being held February 26-28th, 2021
